The Original Snow Village Collection

The matriarch of the winter villages, the Original Snow Village Collection debuted in 1976. The only ceramic community, it is the largest village, annually introducing and retiring the most pieces. The buildings are generally larger and more vividly colored than any of the porcelain villages. The detail and exceptional craftsmanship in recent years are in contrast to the early years.

This is Americana through the years, and patriotic pieces and Classic Cars confirm that focus. Among the most eye-catching buildings are several of an art deco nature. Retail establishments abound, but so do residences and churches. Among the homes is a subseries, the American Architecture Series that replicates various architectural styles. Popular pieces such as fire stations, lighthouses, and schools have been re-introduced to meet the demands of new collectors.

While figures have never been in scale, the original contrast was even greater than today as downsizing took place in the late 1980’s. Children are featured in the popular theme in the family-oriented designs.
